Adenium Plant (8-12 inches) Care Instructions for Customers
- Plant Size & Shipping: Your 8 to 12-inch Adenium (Desert Rose) ships as a bare-root caudex, which can survive up to 2 weeks in this state; note that leaves may fall off after delivery due to shipping stress.
- Container/Ground Planting: Plant in large containers (6 inches or more) or directly in the ground with 3 inches of rock at the bottom for drainage.
- Sunlight: Place in full sun for optimal growth.
- Watering: Water 2-3 times a week when the soil is dry; in hot summers, water daily; during dormancy, reduce to once a month in frost-free conditions.
- Temperature: Keep temperatures below 35°C (95°F) and above 4°C (40°F); move indoors if below 4°C (40°F) to prevent freezing.
- Fertilizing: Avoid fertilizing for the first 6-8 weeks after planting to allow the plant to settle; after this period, fertilize sparingly, as established Adeniums require minimal feeding.
- Dormancy Care: In winter, treat like a cactus—water only on warm, sunny days, and relocate to a frost-free area if there’s a risk of freezing.
- Soil Tip: Use a well-draining mix, such as 70% coarse sand and 30% compost, to prevent root rot and ensure healthy growth.
